Emerging out of the slums in Kawempe is a struggle itself. But Kapa Boy's spirit is to breakthrough more than that.
There is having a dream that catches up with you and chasing your dream to achieve with it. The latter defines Rodrick Batende. At just 18-years-old, the Kawempe-raised singer who is also known as Kapa Boy has released new single titled “Talk to Me.”
Like any upcoming artiste with a dream to achieve, Kapa Boy dreams of becoming a superstar in future. He is a young Afro-beat and Dancehall singer, born and raised from Kawempe but has emerged from all those barriers that slum place in front of young people to emerge and set something rolling for himself.
His new single “Talk to Me” is an Afro-beat/Dancehall love song on which Kapa Boy collaborates Nigerian singer Jerry Logo. The song showcases his unique art but also leaves the promise that he has areas to work on and perfect especially his lyrical content and vocal delivery.
Nonetheless, the song is one you can enjoy if you are in love and the young singer told the #CapitalNewsDesk that the video will be released soon.
About Kapa Boy
The choice of the name Kapa Boy surprised us as much as its intriguing you. Our curiosity to know where he derived it from was not satisfied even as hard as we tried. We were hoping that he got the inspiration from renown female dancehall singer Kapa Cat but he insists not.
He says that he coined his name from two different names but refused to divulge into details. He however promises to discuss it at a later time. He also maintains that he is here to “seriously pursue a music career.”
His love for music started straight from school where he used to perform on school parties. Having joined the school choir, his passion for music continued to grow. He decided to take it on as a career in 2019 but unfortunately, in 2020, his father who had backed up his decision passed away.
Despite it being such a low moment in his life, Kapa Boy reveals that his father’s demise only motivated him to work harder and keep the dream alive. He teamed up with Nigeria’s Jerry Logo on this new song and he hopes it can be the start to greater things yet to come.
