Content creators have been urged to embrace new digital platforms as alternative for diversifying their sources of revenue.

Suzan Kayemba, manager digital services at MTN Uganda noted that people in entertainment industry should rethink on growing and get value from their art and creativity.

She was speaking as MTN in partnership with YO TV unveils redesigned YOTV app with more entertainment channels.

These partnerships are not making you to become rich in one day, they are just to extend to what you are having so take advantage of them, she siad.

According to her, MTN’s partnership with YOTV is hinged on MTN’s mission to champion local content consumption by offering clients a seamless yet convenient and affordable platform.

“The potential of YOTV channels to take local content to the world is absolutely undebatable. With the newly unveiled products, we are optimistic that more people will enjoy more Ugandan content. As MTN, we are here to support Ugandan Innovations and YOTV is the epitome of this” said Kayemba.

The new launched app expands its current offering from a few options to a large variety of live and video-on-demand content covering over 60 live TV channels, over 50 live radio stations, over 140 artists and comedians, music, over 2000 movies and so much more.

As YOTV evolves into a super entertainment app, it has unveiled several new products including; Bolingo Extra that is all about Ugandan Music, Comedy & Reality Shows. Muto, a product designed for Kids’ edutainment (a creative mix of education and entertainment). Kibanda Express a Ugandan movies platform has been redesigned and given a better user interface and user experience. A new channel eMikolo (that showcases captivating events for the Ugandan audience) has also been introduced.

For his part, Aggrey Mugisha, the YOTV Channels Chief Executive Officer noted that the launch of the new YOTV Channels app follows many months of hard work and considerable investment that has gone into development of new products and improved customer experience.

This has involved setup of a dedicated data center which has boosted capacity for our customers to rewind and catch-up on missed live content up to 4 days in the past and while being able to record unlimited future content.

The data center has also expanded concurrent usage capacity on the app that creates a smoother experience for users.

“YOTV app now has the largest collection of content that includes movies, live TV, live Radio, Music, Comedy, Motivational podcasts, Kids entertainment and much more.   We couldn’t have done all this without our great partner MTN and of course our brilliant content creators. We are thus excited to engage with more content creators to walk with us this journey including musicians, filmmakers, comedians, and others” - said Mugisha.

YOTV Channels App was launched in February 2020 right at the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic phenomenon. While many companies collapsed due to the pandemic challenges, YOTV Channels weathered that storm has grown from strength to strength.
