Tanzania president appoints rapper Mwana Fa as Deputy Minister

The president of Tanzania  Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed rapper   Hamis Mwijuma alias Mwana Fa as Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports.

Mwana FA was appointed to the role as a replacement for Pauline Gekul, who has been appointed Deputy Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs,the announcement was made on Sunday ( 26th /February/2023).

The rapper represents Muheza constituency in Tanga as a member of parliament on the ruling Chama Cha Mapenduzi (CCM) party ticket.

He was voted into parliament in the 2020 elections where he got close to 50,000 votes, while his rival only managed 12,000 votes.

Mwana Fa holds a master’s degree in finance from Coventry University England, he is also a certified insurer and an IT specialist.

Mwana FA became a household name within the East African region in the early 2000s with hits such as “Bado Nipo” and “Habari Ndio Hiyo” featuring A.Y. More recently, the rapper has collaborated with Harmonize on the song “Sio Kwa Ubaya.”

Since the good news was announced, fellow musicians and celebrities from different countries  have congratulated him  including Kenya’s Nonini,Tanazania's Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu, among others.
