Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz won the Best African Act Award at the 2023 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) .
The awards that took place in France saw WCB WASAFI boss beat Nigerian stars including Burna Boy and Asake, Cameroon's Libianca and South Africa's Tyler ICU.
The award made Diamond the first African artist to win three MTV EMAs,having won two awards for Best African Act and Best Worldwide Act (Africa/India) in one night at the 2015 MTV EMAs.
Since his career began in 2010, the artist has earned more than 50 awards,He reportedly has more awards than any other artist in East Africa and is the fifth-most awarded artist in sub-Saharan Africa after Wizkid, Sarkodie, Davido and 2face Idibia.
Meanwhile the Awards were initially scheduled to be held live in Paris France however they were cancelled. Despite cancelling the live event MTV still tallied up the public votes for this year’s edition and below is the list of winners.
