Ugandan film "Unheard" scooped six awards at the iKON awards that took place on 23rd /March/2024.
IKon Awards is an awarding programme that recognizes and rewards implementers and personalities in the Film and Television and Mainstream Media in Uganda and ultimately, Africa.
This year’s edition “2024” saw Unheard take home six accolades under different categories including Best Film, Emerging Film Award and Best Director where its director Joseph Ken Ssebaggala emerged the winner among others.
Other films including The Passenger, “The Kitara Chronicles” and personalities won a number of awards however the most outstanding moment of the night was recognition of the contribution of Michael Wawuyo Sr. for the Lifetime Achievement of the Year award.
“This tall, dark-skinned man found me in the industry, but he has grown to become so superior in the technical bits of movie production. Even with such expertise, technical knowledge, and a history of international recognition, Michael Wawuyo has never looked down on us”, Mariam Ndagire narrated.
The awards were attended by outstanding actors including Nigerian stars namely Ramsey Nouah and Iheme Osita,other notable guests included government officials Betty Amongi, Minister for Gender, Labor, and Social Development who was representing the President.
