Nine Arrested for Stealing State Cattle

Nine suspects have been arrested in relation to the continuous theft of cattle from the State House farm in Kirasi, Ddegeya Parish, Maddu Sub county in Gomba district.

According to police, on  29, March, 2024 at around 10am, five cows were reported missing from the farm at Kajumiro Police Post .

Police says that it was established that a one Nyanzi Robert a cattle dealer was buying the stolen cows from the State House Farm, and his arrest led to the tracking down of four other dealers who were also arrested.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson revealed that the other arrested suspects are  29 year old Aliho Frank, aged 35 years Old, Kanyerezi Willy both cattle dealers from Kirasi, Tatulena Fred who is also from Kirasi Village and Gumisiriza Godfrey a business man from Kajumiro.

Another  five  suspects were arrested on Thursday by the police flying Squad.

They  include a 40 year old Bazibumbira Wilson a veterinary officer attached to the farm, Nyanzi Robert a cattle dealer from Kwekibira Village, a 50 year old Kirimunte Ronald a cattle dealer from Kyamabaale Village, a 50 year old Byarugaba Matiya of Kigoka village and a 30 year old Gitta Ronald who is the manager at the farm. “In unravelling the cattle theft racket, we discovered that the dealers conspired with workers at the state farm, to steal the cows,” says Enanga.

"We will continue to work with our local partners to pursue all those responsible for perpetrating cattle theft from the state farm, and dismantle their criminal racket.

” He noted that the intelligence led operations will continue but applauded Flying Squad teams and other units in Gomba for their efforts.
