Four students accused of murder committed to high court

Four students of St.Bernard Manya S.S who are charged with murder following a school fire that broke out and killed 11 students have been committed to the high court for trial .

The said students include Elias Egoni, Dickson Kisule, Alex Junior Mugerwa, and Herom Talemwa.

These are charged with murdering Eleven senior three students and attempting to kill others when they allegedly set on fire a school dormitory.

These have been committed by Masaka court grade one magistrate Christopher Tindyebwa Adyeeri after state informed court that investigations into the matter are complete.

These are facing 51 counts of murder and arson.

Prosecution has further submitted that the DPP has requested for the two security guards who appears on same file with the students to be tried differently as their case is minor and can be tried in the lower court.

And as a result, the lower Court has accordingly granted state's player and committed the four students to high court for trial and also agreed to have the two security guards tried in lower court.

Court heard that in November 2018, the four students allegedly murdered the said students and also led to mass destruction of property worth millions of shillings after they set on fire the said dormitory.

Last year in November Eleven students perish in St. Bernard's SS Manya fire left several other students rushed in various health centers, including Manya health center, Kalisizo hospital and Masaka regional hospital.
