The in charge of historical site, Baker’s Patiko in Gulu districts has called up Uganda government support for the renovation of the site to the standard to attract more tourists.

The site used to have enough staff, but due to government little interest to modernize it, the place has only remained with less than three staffs.

According to Oringa Salvatore the in charge of the site, the places are bushy, they receive tourists and due to absence of accommodation they don’t stay longer.

Baker’s Patiko was built by Sir Samuel Baker in 1872 as a base to stop slave trade in equatorial province between 1872 to 1876.

It was later occupied and expanded by Colonel Charles Gordon in 1879. It was gazette national historical site in 1972.

Among the restrictions at this site, none of tourist or visitor allowed to remove or pick any small rock and stone at the site.
