Kayihura asks KCCA to extend Lukwago's swearing in, police is currently overwhelmed

By Robert Segawa

The Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura has written to the Executive Director Kampala Capital City Authority KCCA Jennifer Musisi to postpone the swearing in of Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and the division chairmen as well as  Lord Councilors scheduled for  1st June Wednesday this week to next week from 6th June..

Kayihura has suggested that the swearing in ceremony be held next week since there will be not much requiring policing.

The request has been made on ground that the police is currently incapacitated to sufficiently police the swearing in ceremony and the celebrations that are likely to follow the ceremony.

According to the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the force will concentrate  its man power on securing the visiting heads of states and the pilgrims who are in the country and are still traveling to attend the Uganda Martyrs Day.

"There is a lot of work this week, with two visiting heads of states and the Martyr day. We hope KCCA Executive director heeds to our request and postpones the ceremony," Enanga says.

KCCA is yet to respond to the letter that was sent this morning from the IGP's office. track
