Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has suspended the annual city carnival for this this year.

Addressing the media at City hall in Kampala, KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi says that they met and resolved with the festival sponsors to divert the raised 1.9bnshs to the removal of the remaining asbestos roofs and replacement with iron sheets for both Nakivubo Settlement and Nakivibo Blue Primary Schools as a start.

Kampala City Festival has been held for the last seven years bringing together diverse people to celebrate their city, cultures and Uganda's independence.

Musisi further says that they will save between 700mshs -900mshs been used to organize the street celebrations to construct the maternal ward and procure medical equipment at KCCA Kiswa Health Centre in Nakawa division.

However, Musisi promises to refund vendors that had paid for stall fees that is now totaling to 3million shilling to trade at the carnival once they decide to pick it.
