Local defense unit personnel recruitment commences

The Uganda People's Defence Forces  have started recruiting Local Defense unit ( LDU) personnel to beef up security in villages in Kampala metropolitan  area as directed by the president.

Over 24000 will be recruited in the exercise that will end on 1st of October in the districts of Wakiso ,Kampala and Mukono.

The team leader for the recruitment process in Rubaga municipality Col. Anthony Lukwago told recruits that the process is free of charge.

The army is conducting the recruitment along with other security organs including local leaders.

The head of communication for the exercise in Rubaga Patrick Onyango confirmed that they have so far received over 100 applicants and are going through medical examination.

Those expected to join local defense unit must be Ugandans with national ID, local council letters, with education background of primary seven and senior iv at the age between 18 to 35 years.
