Local government Association seeks to streamline seedlings supplying system

The Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) is working on the memorandum of Association with Operation wealth creation (OWC) intended to make sure agricultural supplies reach local governments to improve service delivery.

According to ULGA President, George Mutabazi, they want supplies to reach the ordinary farmer rather supplying seedlings which are not used by up scale farmers in local governments.

Through National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) and OWC, government has been distributing planting materials, among other interventions, to farmers as President Museveni sought to improve Uganda’s agricultural productivity.

Since then, questions have been asked about the quality of materials distributed; owing to the high failure rate something that has forced ULGA to sign a memorandum with Operation wealth Creation to stop distribution of fake seeds.
