The High Court has stopped Makerere University from holding fresh guild election.

High Court registrar Alex Ajiji issued the injunction on grounds that the petitioner Brazil Mwota Bidemu will suffer irreparable damages if the university school of education conducts new elections.

The injunction will remain in force until his main application in which he is challenging the entire process is heard and disposed of.

Mwota's win was challenged by his closest challenger Roy Ssemboga who claimed that the exercise was marred by irregularities. Mwotta was declared winner with 4,498 votes, beating Roy Ssemboga who garnered 4,287 votes.
