The Government has directed Makerere University to suspend the controversial fees payment policy.

The university administration at Makerere had demanded payment of 100% tuition payment before students can seat for exams which has sparked off unrest at the university.

The university vice chancellor Dr. Dumba Sentamu says they have agreed to the directive by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda asking the administration to allow students register as they arrange to be fees by the 12th week to the end of the semester.

In his communication to the students guild Dr. Dumba says students should calm down since they have now been allowed enough time to organize the fees.
