A 30 year old man in Kabale district has committed suicide by hanging after allegedly failing to raise Shillings 1000 to buy a sachet of salt for his family.
The deceased has been identified as Denis Michael Owamani, a resident of Nyakabungo Village in Rwene parish in Buhara Sub County in Kabale district.
According to Elly Maate Kigezi region police spokesman the deceased committed suicide after the wife had requested for salt and that's when the deceased threatened to kill himself which is domestic violence.
Maate adds that when the wife left home, on coming back she found a photo of his husband with a crossed mark on it, which prompted her to rush and informed the parents of the deceased who came and they did a joint search, that led them to the deceased hanging on a rope in his sitting room.
Police picked the body and took it to the city mortuary for postmortem.
