Man convicted for abusing own mother

A 25 year old man who threatened to kill his own 50 year old mother after he asked him to stop drinking alcohol especially in the morning hours has been convicted by city hall court.

Derrick Ojoko has been convicted on his own plea before grade one magistrate Beatrice Kainza after he pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening violence and insulting the modesty of a woman.

The Magistrate has now remanded him to Luzira prison until the 9th of this month when he will be sentenced in the presence of his mother who was absent in court today.

Prosecution led by Joy Kalungi states that on the 29th of March 2019 at Kyebando Kisalosalo in Kampala, Ojoko with intent to intimidate or annoy threatened to kill his mother Mary Akello.

Prosecution further states that on the same date at Kyebando Kisalosalo, with intent to insult the modesty of a woman namely Mary Akello, Ojoko uttered a vulgar word intending that the said word should be heard by his mother.

The magistrate ruled that the convict had used ill mannered words against his mother.
