Leo Mwebembezi, a resident of Kamuganguzi village in Kakindo Sub County in Kakumiro district is in trouble over the death of his step son. Mwebembezi was picked up by Police for allegedly killing his one and half year old son during a brawl with his wife.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at Businge village in Kakindo Sub County. Nathan Karaki, the Kakumiro District Police Commander, says the suspect first hit the mother of the minor identified as Separaza with a hoe before he turned on the child.
He explains that Separaza bore the child with another man when they separated with Mwebembezi a few years back. Karaki says the suspect was picked while trying to flee from the scene of crime, adding that he is being held at Kakumiro Central Police Station on murder charges.
Separaza told URN on her sick bed at Kakindo health center IV that she ran for treatment after being attacked by her husband thinking her relatives would take care of the minor.
