MINISTRY OF EDUCATION IS ASKING FOR 29.9 BILLION SHILLINGS

The ministry of education wants more money to increase the number of students under the loan scheme from 1200 to 5000.

The minister of education Jessica Alupo told members of parliament on the education committee that over 4000 students who apply for the loan scheme every year are left out because the money is not enough.

The MPS on the education committee who include Angelina Osege and Jacob Opolot said that the ministry of education is consulting with state house to shift funds meant for state house scholarship to the ministry of education so that it can be used as additional funds for loan scheme of tertiary students.

Jessica Alupo the education minister says they had asked for 29.9 billion shillings but it has been allocated the usual 6 billion shillings.
