Man hacks colleague to death over 2000UGx in Isingiro

Police in Isingiro district are hunting for a man who allegedly hacked a colleague to death after failure to pay a 2000 Shillings debt.

Alex Beinomugisha, 39, the suspect is said to have engaged 17 year old Isaac Birungi in a fight on Saturday afternoon after he allegedly demanded for his 2000 Shilings in vain. The fight took place at Rukoma village, Birere Sub-County in Isingiro district.

The two first exchanged blows but the deceased was overpowered and deserted in a banana plantation. After the incident, the suspect reportedly took off and moments later, the deceased was found dead.

Milton Nkwasibwe, the officer in charge of Birere police post told our reporter that the locals reported the matter to police and that the police have since then launched a man hunt for the suspect.

He says that the deceased's body has been taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Isingiro district police commander Moses Muzima says that police from Isingiro police station have moved in and are working with the locals to track down the suspect to face justice.

Maurice Rakasori a brother to deceased says that the   two were close friends and wonders why they had to fight over a small amount of money. He says that the deceased had dropped out of school and instead doing casual work.
