Parliament has given a two days ultimatum to the president to respond to the speaker’s letter requesting to know the security officers behind the torture of Members of Parliament or go out of session for a longer period.
This comes after opposition whip Ibrahim Semujju Nganda said the parliament work can wait for two days, until the matter of security for fellow MPs is addressed. He added that this issue has to be addressed urgently to maintain the autonomy of Parliament.
Other MPS who include Arua county North MP Samuel Odongo Otto, Padyere county MP ,Bugabula south MP Henry Morrice Kibalya and Budadiri west MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi expressed concern that some MPs were harassed during the passing age limit bill but up to now there is no report on who harassed them . The deputy speaker Jacob oulanya therefore ruled that parliament will resume after two days on hearing the president’s response on the matter.
