Old passports to be phased out by April 2022

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned people who have not replaced their old passports with the East African Passport that they will no longer be valid for international travel after April 4, 2022. Jacob Siminyu the Ministry of internal affairs spokesperson says after that date any one with the old travel document will be denied visas and air tickets.

After April 4, 2022 the Ugandan machine-read passport will be replaced by the International East African e- passports.

Siminyu noted that Ugandans with Old Ugandan passports should know that they only have six months left  and this implies that very soon they will no longer be accepted.

He is now advising holders of the old passports to   replace them before the deadline.. In a related development Jacob Siminyu also appealed to those that apply for passports to avoid storming their immigration office immediately after applying but wait for their appointment dates.
