Several feared dead and injured in Kampala twin bomb explosions

Two bombs have exploded in Kampala living unknown number of people dead and injured.

One blast went off at Raja Chambers along the Parliamentary Avenue while the second one blew off at the entrance of the Central Police station in the Central business District on Tuesday.

Parts of the city where the bombs exploded were covered in thick smoke while several cars caught fire and burnt to cinders.

The deputy speaker of Parliament Anite Among and the Leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga have been evacuated from parliament following an explosion at the parliamentary avenue.

Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting has been called off and legislators advised not to come to the august house today.

“You are advised not to proceed to the precincts of Parliament as security forces are working hard to restore order around parliament .Until you are advised otherwise, please keep at home  and those in the precincts of parliament keep calm and wait for advice on how to exit” read part of statement issued by Clerk  to Parliament  Adolf Mweisge Kasaija.

Shopping arcades along Luwum Street, Wilson road, and Duster Street have been sealed off.

Police sniffers dogs have been brought to search before people can be evacuated. There’s extra deployment at all commercial banks in Kampala.
