As Uganda joins the rest of the world to observe World Aids Day, the Aids support organization (TASO) is urging all Ugandans to take some time and reflect on how they can participate in preventing HIV infection and care for those who are already infected and affected by the virus.

the call comes in as Hariss International will in partnership with Mr. Abel Kaddu, a Senior Three Student of Buddo Senior Secondary School donate medical supplies and welfare hampers to TASO Mulago Medical Institution and its patients under the year's theme " End stigma, end Aids, end Pandemic".

Nkabala Robert who is the Center Program Manager TASO Mulago says there is still hope for HIV-infected persons to live a better life if they adhere to treatment but urged everyone to use this day to test for HIV.

He says World AIDS day is a revenued call to support one another but emphasised the need to prevent new infections but support people who are on treatment.

The donation by  Hariss International is an initiative by  Abel Kaddu, a Senior Three Student of Buddo Senior Secondary School who approached Haris seeking assistance so he can donate to charity .in In his proposal, he shared his need to transform the lives of HIV/AIDS patients.

“COVID 19 has seen many young people become victims of HIV/AIDS and many of them have very limited access to medical supplies and professional counselling, Abel Kaddu proposed to give to people living with HIV/Aids.

TASO is currently operating eleven (11) centers across the country, and its Mulago clinic was the first to be set up in 1987.

By the end of September 2021, the clinic had 8506 active HIV patients on treatment and under its care; of which 183 were adolescents aged between 10-19yrs.

This number makes up 2% of the clinic's patients. Hariss International’s CSR culture focuses on four core areas some of which include youth Empowerment and Medical welfare.

Abel Kaddu has since garnered the courage to bridge the gap between the support systems and those in need is quite commendable" says RachealLuwedde (Public Relations Manager; Hariss International).

Harris International is the proud producer of Oner Fruit Juice, Krystal NaturalMineral Water, Skyview, and assorted biscuits among many. It continues to stand in solidarity with the communities to improve their overall livelihoods.
