Liquid intelligent technologies Uganda and innovation village have started a campaign on cyber security as organizations strive to adapt to digital transformation.
On Tuesday, they have engaged some corporate companies and small-medium enterprises on how they can deal with cybersecurity.
Speaking during the sensitization workshop on cyber security, the chief executive officer of Liquid intelligent technologies Dennis Kahindi said that the conversation on cybersecurity is very important now when the COVID-19 pandemic forced a large number of people to work from home via the internet yet there are risks that people need to know.
He said that every single minute there are millions of hackers into the systems and many of them are successful something people need to know while using the internet.
"Tremendous access to internet services offers tremendous vulnerabilities to everyone who has access to those services and needs to be managed," Kahindi said
He also appealed to the ministry of Information communication technology (ICT) to join them in sensitizing the public on how they can deal with cyber security and make the service providers account for the data of their customers.
He asked the companies to use service providers who have been accredited to use the latest technologies in order to avoid cyber threats.
The IT systems and networks supervisor innovation Village Uganda Duncan Allan Byamukama said for organizations, companies, and enterprises to be aware of cyber security is a positive start in the right direction since numerous organizations are losing a lot of data and even money in terms of information lost over the internet.
He asked individuals using the systems to deal with the threats before the service providers come in to handle the security.
" Companies need to come together to tackle the common goal which is the maliciousness of the internet." Byamukama said.
