The United Nations has pledged to support local manufacturers interested in turning plastics into roofing tiles.

This was disclosed by Rose Plang, the procurement Specialist at UNDP at the supplier's seminar organized for local suppliers under the Uganda Manufacturers Associations.

Daniel Birungi, the Executive Director of the Uganda Manufacturers Association says the suppliers' conference also aims at enhancing the ability of local manufacturers to supply goods and services to the United Nations after understanding the un procurement processes, requirements, and associated vendor registration procedures.

This conference has been part of new strategies by local manufacturers to increase the market for locally made products through tapping into the wider United Nations eco-system in sectors such as construction, Transport, and Health.
