Terego district obtains a 1.1 billion Sports complex

Construction of a multi-billion sports complex in Terego district has commenced in Leju Town Council.

The new 1.1 Billion shillings multipurpose building is being financed by the World Bank through the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Additional Funding programe USMID-AF. 

It is expected to be completed by early 2023, and the ultramodern facility will have a football field, a jogging track, and basketball, tennis and volleyball courts.

State Minister for Urban Development Obiga Kania who officiated at the ground breaking in Terego district advised the project developer Top 3 Construction Company to ensure high-quality assurance levels throughout the ongoing civil works.

The Minister also emphasized on the need to ensure extensive greening of the entire complex surrounding with indigenous tree species in order for the users and visitors of the facility of the sports facility, to realize maximum comfort.

John Bosco Nakuci, the Leju Sub-county Chairman, promised to begin mobilization of different youth groups into sports clubs, to ready themselves into using the sports facility.

Apart from Terego District, others with selected infrastructure projects such as modern markets, recreational spaces, resource and youth centre are Moyo, Yumbe, Madi-Okolo, Obongi, Adjumani and Lamwo among others.
