The Mufti Of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has asked Ugandans to stop speaking ill against the dead saying it does not benefit anyone.

Sheikh Mubaje, made the request at the funeral of the late Haj Kamisi Kiwanuka, a popular panellist at the UMSC-based Radio Bilal  94.1 FM, who was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Bakijulula in Kalungu district.

According to Sheikh Mubaje, everyone will die someday, and it is the duty of those still living to speak only good about the deceased who has gone to be with his creator.

He noted that it was absurd that some Ugandans find it joyful to jubilate and rejoice against the deaths of some people, which he said does not benefit them in any way.

In the same speech, Mufti Mubaje urged Muslims never to copy the bad example of those who use funerals to preach hate, hurl insults against their perceived opponents, and politics of division.

The Mufti noted that Haj Kamisi was among the 15 Muslims from the Buganda region who approached him to stand for the position of Mufti of Uganda.

"They told me how I had all the desirable qualities of the Mufti, to which I responded and gave thought,” Sheikh Mubaje recounted.

Adding that, “Surprisingly, some members fell off the track as they began pestering him for material gains in form of money and the deceased was one of few who remained with me in the struggle, which enabled him to witness several achievements.”
