SBC Uganda donates 4 motorcycles for health

SBC Uganda Ltd, the contractor undertaking the construction of the Kabaale International Airport has handed four motorcycles to the Hoima district health department to ensure effective monitoring and implementation of health programs in areas near the airport.

This is in addition to the other donations including; an ambulance and boreholes, made as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Kirundi Kadiri, the LCV chairman, appealed to other contractors to do the same in light of the latest addition of donations during his remarks at the ceremony.

Also present was the Hoima Resident District Commissioner ( RDC), Emmy Kateera Turyabagyeni who cautioned health workers to desist from their abuse but rather ensure they stick to the purpose they are intended for.

Of recent, there have been Cholera and Dysentery disease outbreaks in the area according to the district health officer, Dr. Innocent Kwikiriza, who added that the motorcycles will go a long way in ensuring the implementation of health programs effectively so that the industrial area and the airport are not infiltrated.

According to the health department, they are committed to the provision of quality health services in order to promote a healthy and productive population as enshrined in the District Vision 2040. In addition, SDG 3 and Goal 3 of Africa Agenda 2063 call for ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages.

The main goal of the sector is to reduce morbidity and mortality from the major causes of ill health as a contribution to poverty reduction, and economic and social development of the people of the Hoima district.

Kabaale International Airport in Hoima, Uganda’s second international airport now under construction is due for completion nine months from now, according to the contractors.

The immediate objective of the airport, 200 Kilometres by air from Entebbe International Airport and 33 Kilometres by road from Hoima City, is mainly transportation of the equipment expected to be shipped in for the construction of oil processing and transportation projects.

Other donations were; sixteen dustbins, ten wheelbarrows,13 water tanks, and sportswear to Buseruka Primary, Nyakasinini, Kitara Football Club, Buseruka FC, Nyamasoga Primary School, and Katooke FC.
