The Uganda Prison Services is urging Parents living near prison farms to protect their children, especially girls to avoid being defiled by some prisoners.

This is after a convicted prisoner identified as Magombe Wilson of Namalu prison farm was caught trying to defile a seven-year-old girl.

According to Frank Mayanja Baine, the Commissioner Of Prisons in charge of corporate affairs, the incident took place on the 16th of this month at around midday,  when the said convicted prisoner was working as a shamba guard at Namalu prison farm.

Baine explains that the girl was rescued and taken to Matanyi Hospital for medical examination and an assault was confirmed and the convicted prisoner has been charged with Assault. "

Meanwhile, Uganda's Prisons service is ensuring that the victim gets treatment and requests parents around prison farms to avoid letting young children go through isolated prison farms alone". Baine said.

However, Baine promises that Uganda Prisons will continue to ensure the safety and security of communities around prison farms.
