U.R.A adopts scientific approach to enhance revenue mobilisation.

Uganda Revenue Authority has adopted the use of scientific approach in enhancing revenue mobilization for selected imported goods.

This was disclosed by the Assistant commissioner public and corporate affairs URA during a media engagement on how the  system shall help in enforcing  tax compliance, especially in the manufacturing sector.

According to Uganda Revenue Authority,the  manufacturing sector is one of the key sectors steering the countries growth, how ever the tax body realizes there is need to have keen interests of key stake holders to ensure high compliance levels in remitting taxes.

 The Assistant Commissioner Tax Investigations, Agnes Nabwire says the use of science in detection, verification and collection of accurate data  is important in contributing  to and  enhancing revenue mobilization for selected imported goods .

She says that this has been made possible through enforcing tax compliance, especially in the manufacturing sector .

Previously at the customs point there has been a system of application of tax by classification of products by observation ,how ever with the introduction of science,it is easy for URA to  ascertain the value of the products through laboratory testing on various goods.

Denis Kugonza Kateeba  the Commissioner , Tax Investigation Department says by applying science to establish the right value of goods through  testing of samples, tax investigations  on  selected goods will have been made easy and will also lead to minimizing of  tax fraud
