Buganda Road Court has issued Criminal summons against Former FDC president Rt Col Dr. Warren Kiiza Besigye after he failed to appear in court today .
The opposition politician was expected in court on Wednesday to attend r further hearing of a case in which he is charged with inciting violence.
His lawyer Samuel Wanda had however informed trial grade one magistrate Asuman Muhumuza that his client is unwell and was unable to attend court this morning; an update that never persuaded the magistrate.
Besigye is jointly standing trial with activist Samuel Lubega Mukaku for allegedly inciting members of the public to demonstrate against the sky -rocking prices of everyday commodities including sugar , soap , cooking oil and bread .
Mukaku was present in court while Besigye has been issued with summons to appear on the 18thJanuary 2023 on the request of state prosecutor Ivan Kyazze.
It's alleged that at Kikuubo Shawurayako without any unlawful excuse, the duo addressed members of the public while implying that it would be desirable for them to demonstrate, yet this act can result into violence and destruction of property .
They committed the alleged offence on 14thJune 2022
