Hearing of Maria Nagirinya Murder case flops

The hearing of a case against eight people accused of murdering a social worker Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa has  flopped. 

The trial was set to begin on Monday  but the Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya informed court that he was not ready to proceed because he was just allocated the file and he needed one week to peruse through it.

Now the trial Judge Isaac Muwata has adjourned the case until Monday January 23rd 2023 for the trial to kick off.

The suspects Coporiyamu Kasolo alias Arsenal, Johnson Lubega alias Etoo Rasta Manonmano, Nasif Kalyango alias Muwonge, and Hassan Kisekka , were in the year 2020 committed  to the  High Court for trial after police concludes it's inquiries.

They are facing a total of  six [6] charges.  Two murder charges, two charges of  aggravated robberies and two charges of  kidnaps with intent to murder Nagirinya and Kitayimbwa.

Prosecution states that on August 28th 2019 Nagirinya and her driver were kidnapped from Lungujja Nabisasiro zone in Lubaga division , killed and their bodies were dumped in Nakitutuli village in Mukono district.

Prosecution will bring evidence to show that the suspects used violence to rob Nagirinya of her motor vehicle, mobile phone and cash amounting to 260, 000 shillings  and also proceeded to rob Kitayimbwa of his mobile phone and   240, 000 shillings.

That  the suspects were arrested as they attempted to withdraw monies from Nagirinya's mobile phone at Nateete, a Kampala suburb.
