The late Dr. Hassan Galiwango has been described as man who was dedicated to his work. DR. Galiwanog who has been Uganda’s High commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles passed away Monday morning in Nairobi while undergoing treatment.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs Rebecca Alitwaala Kadaga broke the news of the death of Galiwango.
"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of H.E Dr Galiwango, High Commissioner of Uganda to Kenya, which occurred this morning," she said
Hassan Galiwango has been the High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles since June 2021 when he presented his credentials to Presidents of the two countries.
Prior to becoming a High Commissioner, Galiwango was a former long serving director of finance and administration at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat in Kampala.
He is the husband to Mbale City Woman MP Connie Nakayenze Galiwango.
Following the announcement of his death, many Ugandans including ministers and Hon. Speaker of Parliament took to social media to condole with the bereaved family
Minister for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries Frank Tumwebaze twitted
“Very disturbing news about the passing of our Ambassador to Nairobi Dr Hassan Galiwango. So sad. Dr Hassan was such a committed officer to duty & gave it all his best. He loved his work. He made Nairobi real home for all of us. SAD! My sincere Condolences to his family”.
The Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among said Galiwango would be remembered for his dedication to service.
“ My Sincere condolences to you my sister Hon.Connie Galiwango and the family upon the demise of Ambassador Dr. Hassan Galiwango.We shall always remember his dedicated service to his country ,Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un” she twitted.
Kenya's CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Alfred Mutua condoled with the family of Galiwango. "My condolences to the President, Government and the people of Uganda on the passing of Ugandan High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, who passed away this morning in Nairobi Hospital. My deepest sympathies to his family. Rest In Peace Ndugu," he said in a tweet.
In a statement issued by the ministry of Foreign Affairs Galiwango also doubled as Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Program and UNHABITAT
