Over 80 labor exporting companies have parted ways with the Uganda association of external recruitment agencies and formed their own known as External labor agencies of Uganda.
The break-off comes after members accused the leadership of the old association of abuse of office, corruption, and denying them freedom to express their views.
The interim chairperson of the New association Milton Omurwok says that they cannot continue working with leaders who have a criminal record, wondering how they obtained certificates of good conduct from Interpol.
" Under the external recruitment regulations, a person with a criminal record is not allowed to own or even be involved in the management of affairs of a recruitment firm.
They also accuse the leaders of UAERA of not minding about the welfare of the migrant workers but rather repealing them off their hard-earned income.
By breaking away from these leaders, we think that this will bring sanity to the sector.
They have also accused their leaders of channeling association funds from planned activities to their personal use.
'' The leaders continue to demand for funds for the association, yet they have failed to account for the money they collect from members.
Each Labor company has been contributing Two million five hundred shillings towards the activities of the association annually.
Some of the companies that have left UAERA include Dream connect, IDeale HR consultancy, Cellar investments Ltd, Bantu establishments LTD, Almared Agency, Alruwwad Company LTD, Explorer Dubai and Jerusalem recruitment Agency, Marhaba recruitment agency, Job line consultancy, Prime linkages limited, Great Lakes company, Suubi recruitment agency and Triple world group limited among others.
