UNRA assembles construction material to restore Katonga bridge

The Uganda National Roads Authority says that the water levels at Katonga have lowered, and this has enabled the construction works to begin.

Allan Ssempebwa, the UNRA spokesperson, says the authority has assembled adequate construction material and equipment on site.

He says it will take UNRA engineers between two to three weeks to make emergency repairs provided the weather conditions remain favorable. ‘’ Everything we need is already on the site works are steadily moving on’’ Ssempebwa says.

Last week, the fast-moving flood water washed away part of the River Katonga Bridge further complicating an already worse transport situation along Kampala- Masaka highway.
