EC Issues Electoral Programme for Oyam County North, Oyam District.

The Electoral Commission has released the program for conducting the by-election of Members of Parliament for Oyam County North, Oyam District. The by–election program will commence with an update of the National Voters’ Register from Thursday 18th to Monday 22nd May 2023 at update stations in each of the thirty-nine (39) parishes and wards in Oyam County North Constituency.

The Commission has appointed Monday 22nd May 2023 as the cut-off date for applying for registration as a voter and for transfer of voting location in Oyam County North.

The registration and transfer of voters from one polling station to another within Oyam North will not take place after Monday 22nd May 2023.

The display of the Voters’ Register will be conducted for a period of ten (10) days, that is, from Tuesday 30th May to Thursday 8th June 2023, at all the one hundred and sixty-seven (167) polling stations in Oyam County North.

The Display of Parish Tribunal Recommendations for deletion from/or inclusion on the Voters Register will be conducted for six (6) days, that is, from Thursday 8th to Tuesday 13th June 2023 at the respective Parish/Ward Headquarters.

The nomination of candidates will be conducted on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th June 2023 at the Office of the District Returning Officer, Oyam.

According to Simon Byabakama the E.C Chairperson, Nominated candidates will conduct campaign meetings for thirteen (13) days, that is, from Thursday 22nd June to Tuesday 4th July 2023.

The Oyam North Parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the former MP., Hon. Col. (Ret.) Charles Okello Engola on 2nd May 2023.
