20 Arrested in connection to Lhubiriha school Attack

Police have revealed that they have arrested 20 people in the ongoing investigations in relation to the ADF attack on Lhubiriha Secondary School last week leaving 42 dead.

Addressing a weekly news conference at Police headquarters Naguru on the progress of investigations into this attack, Fred Enanga the police spokesperson noted that among the 20 arrested are director Head Master of the Lhubiriha Secondary school and 18 other people suspected to be ADF collaborators to aid in the ongoing investigations.

Enanga said that so far 25 bodies have been examined for postmortem at Bwera hospital and 23 of these have been handed over to their relatives and family members but noted two others have not been claimed.

The police spokesperson identified the deceased as Muhinda Wapaliyo, Kiiza Kabugo Rosette, Kamala Lucia, Kule Martin, Maserika Elton, Masika Rosette, Katusime Ruth, Mazalaki Martins, Mbusa Ruhandi, 47 year a watchman at school,Nyakato Elizabeth, Bira loneti, Bira Gawuba, Bira Amina, Mbambu Junior, Kabugo Jovia, Maserika Zakayo 70 year peasant, Masika Florence 95 year, Kabugo Maserini, Kabugo Junior,Itungo Regina,Itungo Markilin, Kabugo Bridget.

Enanga further adds that medical and forensic team from police headquarters Naguru have also examined 17 male bodies of the students who had been burnt beyond recognition.

" We have managed to pick DNA samples from the bodies and relatives for comparison," Enanga said.

He also revealed that six other victims are still receiving treatment in different hospitals in Bwera, Kirudu hospital and Mulago referral hospital.

He also identified the four survivors as Mumbere Edgar, Kato Moses, Muhindo Steven, and Kambesa Gideon.

Fred Enanga also maintained that the death toll in this attack still stands at 42.

He however described the attack as being barbaric ,inhumane and a crime against humanity, adding that the UPDF pursuit of the attackers is still ongoing.
