Thugs who killed Kassanda Police officer Arrested

The directorate of crime intelligence has arrested four armed thugs  who robbed over 150 million shillings from a mobile money attendant and also shot dead a police officer in Kassanda district.

On Monday evening police registered an armed robbery which was captured on CCTV camera and footage went viral showing members of the gang robbing a mobile money agent that also doubled as a soda depot  operator in Kassanda.

Following the robbery, police mounted a chase for the group that was moving on a motorcycle and during the chase, Corporal Joseph Olaya was shot dead by  the thugs.

According to Polly Namaye, the deputy police spokesperson, following an intensive operation carried out by the Flying Squad, four members of the gang have been arrested.

The suspects whose names have been withheld are currently detained at the Special Investigations Unit in Kireka whereas a motorcycle they have been using to carry out the robberies has also been recovered.

Meanwhile  an AK47 rifle robbed from a police officer in Nsangi, Wakiso district on May, 29, 2023 recovered.

Namaye said as an officer disembarked from a boda boda near the division headquarter check point at Nsangi, criminals riding on motorcycles arrived, grabbed the weapon and sped off with the gun.
