Police have revealed that they are finding difficult to identify the places which are targeted by terrorists as it was indicated by the UK Government in its travel advisory to citizens intending to travel to Uganda.

In an alert issued last week, the UK government urged its citizens who are in Uganda and those intending to travel to the country to avoid moving in congested places including bars, hotels and others frequented by many people including foreigners over an impending terror attack.

Fred Enanga, the Police Police spokesperson noted that whereas the alert was received, it didn't not necessarily indicate the targeted places and the nature of terrorism, adding that it was generalizing which he said is hard to determine.

He noted that there are so many places frequented by many people and it is difficult to know where to put emphasis.

However, Enanga urges those in charge of public places like markets, business buildings and schools among others to be keen on strangers taking photos of these facilities with phones, driving at a low speed around the areas and those loitering around the premises as these could be on surveillance missions.

He assured the public that the joint security team is conducting inspection at all vital places that are occupied by a number of people and they are working with different sectors like transport , business , schools, to ensure security alertness.

Enanga further said that Uganda has been peaceful except the recent cases of the soft target attacks by the Allied Democratic Forces -ADF but noted that the group’s bases and cells within the country have been dismantled.
