Retired Col. Dr. Warren Kiza Besigye the former president of the  opposition Forum for Democratic Change- FDC Party is not happy with people who are unfairly accusing him of being part of the cause of the current political crisis at the Najjanankumbi based  political party.

The party spokesperson and Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Ibrahim Semujju Nganda accuses  party Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi  and the Party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi of trying to sell FDC to the ruling National Resistance Movement under

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.According to Ssemujju, Nandala, and the company received   billions of shillings from the NRM  party during the 2021 elections and refused to disclose its source

Now Besigye who left the  party 12 years ago says to be accused of being a cause of such crisis is  unfair and diversionary.   He claims that , he does not interact with party leadership in running of the party but instead in other issues like broader struggle of getting Uganda and Ugandans out of captivity.

‘’It’s very unfair to be accused by many people that I still breath behind the necks of those who now are running the party.’ I have been interacting with them but not on party matters’’ Besigye says.

Col. Kizza Besigye says state capture and failure by the political parties to adjust to reality is the broader problem causing internal conflicts with in FDC  and other political parties

Besigye who was addressing journalist on Wednesday in Kampala, , has noted that because all political parties cannot raise money to run party programs they are forced to depend on government money either formally or informally.

‘’All political parties FDC inclusive are living in extreme poverty and if this continues, very soon all political parties will be taken by the state system’’he emphasizes.

He says because FDC has failed to adopt itself to confront and defeat, the State capture like other many political parties, is the reason for the fights happening in the party.

Besigye is also wondering why political parties have failed to learn from the viruses (State capture) that have been eating them for so  long.

He says because of State capture, participating in election is now a crisis as members of Parliament requires a minimum of Ugx 500 million  each to win elections.

‘’This will continue to force political parties or individual to look for money from President Museveni’’ he said.

Besigye further spoke on the accusations that he did not help in raising money for 2021 Campaign for Hon. Patrick Oboi Amuriat

In his response, he noted that he decided not to participate in fundraising drive because the party was not well prepared enough on which candidate to front.

And the worst part, he  learnt that the team  had gotten  some money for election campaign from the ruling government.
