The Director of Public Prosecution - DPP  Jane Francis Abodo has challenged investigators to be careful while recording additional statements.

Abodo said that it makes no sense when two warring parties agree to reconcile and make additional statements but the investigating officer insists on charging the accused person.

She made the remarks at Kibuli CID headquarters as she witnessed the pipping ceremony of the newly promoted officers .

Justice Abodo says it's painful for the two parties to make additional statement and Investigation officer goes behind to betrayed the accused person.

"As you begin your new journey, go and make us look good by giving accountability to the people of Uganda because they deserve it. If you don’t do your work, you make someone else suffer, his family and the generation to come,” Abodo said.

He applauded CID officers for a quick and thorough investigation into the Karamoja iron sheet scandal that she said was done in a record one month.

The CID director, AIGP Tom Magambo revealed  he is currently working to help improve the welfare of CID officers , adding that the officers must also have a good working environment to allow them investigate cases effectively.

He said when he came into office he ensured officers are placed in the right offices as well as a good working environment .

Magambo also emphasized the need for officers to have time for their families as well as communities which will help them to associate freely when they retire.
