Police foils a Mother's attempt to Burn her Three Children

Police at Kabalagala have launched a man hunt for a  29 year old a woman who allegedly attempted to murder her three children.

The incident happened Sunday  evening at around 10 pm in the Upper Lake Side Zone of Kisugu Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala suburbs.

The suspect has been identified  as Jennifer Nambiru, a housewife who  allegedly set fire to her household property with intention to kill her three children ages  Seven, Six and two Years old.

“The children were locked inside the house as the fire and smoke spread, but their pleas to be rescued alerted neighbors who hurried and ran to their rescue. Thankfully, they were saved without injuries, and the fire was put out before it could spread to nearby homes,” said Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson.

According to  Owoyesigyire  so far the investigations reveal that Nambiru had been involved in some domestic violence issues with her husband, a one Moses Bululu. The domestic violence crime had been addressed and sorted by local leaders and was under investigation.

“The Kisugu Police Station received a report on the incident, and a team of officers rushed to the scene. To add on that, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services from Kabalagala together with locals, were called to ensure the safety of the victims and prevent further damage,” noted Owoyesigyire

The local community leaders and the landlady were interviewed to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

It was discovered  that  on this fateful day,  Jennifer Nambiru,  gathered the household belongings, set a fire, and locked her children inside the burning house, seemingly with the intention to end their lives.

Owoyesigyire added that  the Kabalagala Police Division is actively investigating the case, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest Nambiru for the crime committed.

The police have urged anyone with information regarding the above crime to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
