Uganda's President Yoweri Kaguta  Museveni  has issued a directive to Gen Apollo Kasita Gowa, who heads the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration, urging a departure from outdated methods for screening passengers at airports.

President Museveni emphasized the need to respect the privacy of women's bodies, stating that breasts and stomachs are private parts, and alternative methods should be employed for screening.

" Breasts and stomach are private parts on women's body so you should stop touching them and use other methods of checking them," he said.

Additionally, the President stressed the importance of adopting more advanced and civilized approaches to detect metallic objects like knives and guns using metal detectors, and explosives using explosive detectors or sniffer dogs.

The Head of state issued the directive during the pass  of 2700 probation police recruits and 57 immigration officers at police training school Kabalye in Masindi.

In a related matter, Minister of Internal Affairs General Kahinda Otafiire expressed dissatisfaction with the bureaucratic delays in the Ministry of Finance regarding the release of funds for the construction of housing for police, immigration, and prisons under the Public Private Partnership. Otafiire highlighted the concerns about the bureaucracy causing delays in the project.

Furthermore, Commandant of the Kabalye training school, Masindi Ezekiel Emitu, urged officers to exhibit a willingness to serve their country through sacrifice and emphasized the importance of conducting their duties professionally.
