Gun fire rocked Nateete an outskirt of Kampala as the Flying squad unit of Police was chasing a vehicle carrying suspected stolen cows.

Police became suspicious of the Toyota Land Cruiser V8 registration number UAZ 801Y when its driver evaded the check point mounted at Nakawuka Kutano.

This prompted police to track it down and fired bullets deflating its tyres bringing it to a halt.

Luke Owoyesigyire Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesman said upon inspection, two live cows were found neatly seated in the car trunk."Upon inspection, two live cows were discovered in the back seat and trunk securely tied. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the origin of the stated cattle with suspicion pointing towards Matuga " said Oweyesigire.

"Upon inspection, two live cows were discovered in the back seat and trunk securely tied. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the origin of the stated cattle with suspicion pointing towards Matuga " said Oweyesigire.

The driver of the vehicle and now treated as a suspect Mugema Ismah aged 32 is currently under police custody,

He sustained gunshot t injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at Mulago Hospital.

Oweyesigire appealed to anyone with information on stolen cows to go to Nateete police station where the matter is under investigation.

" The incident underscores the persistent problem of cattle theft in various parts of the country. law enforcement remains dedicated to curbing such crimes, and efforts to apprehend additional suspects involved in this activity is underway" he revealed.
