Abiriga's Wife Further Remanded to Hoima Prison

A woman  charged with  the murdered of her husband and also Masindi district Health officer Dr.Abiriga Jino has further been  remanded to Hoima prison on charges of masterminding her husband's alleged murder.

32 year old Cherotic Betty, a teacher  had returned to court with two of her co accused persons to know the status of the investigations.

However,  prosecution informed court that investigations are still on going asking for more time to have them completed.

These were further remanded until the 13th of February 20224 .Her partners in crime are ; Joshua, a builder and Martin Kipsanga a carpenter all residents of Bukwo district.

Prosecution states that the suspects on the 7th January 2024 with others still at large connived,masterminded and brutally murdered 58 year old Dr. Abiriga at Kijura Cell ,Central Division in Masindi Municipality.

Dr.Abiriga is said to died of  severe wounds he suffered  on his neck ,back head and hands.

According to police investigations, on the 7.01.2024, the victim left his home in the morning, to attend a friend’s wedding and after the  wedding his driver, dropped him at his home at around 9pm.

At around 10 pm, he and his wife, Cherotic Betty, went to sleep in their bedroom.roomed house. 

The doctor was later found  dead, with a deep cut on the neck, multiple cuts on the head, hand and dumped 50 metres away from his residence.

An  immediate search was conducted at the premises of the deceased, and suspected blood stains recovered from the walls in the bedroom and from under their marital bed.

Police investigations further shows that although the wife claims that the victim was called on phone by someone, to go and carry out an operation on a patient and never returned home, there is no evidence yet, supporting her claim.
