NIRA starts Recruitment of Registrars Ahead of Nat. ID Mass Enrollment

The Uganda National Identification Registration Authority NIRA has revealed that they are targeting to register between 17 and 18 million Ugandans who are without National Identification Cards in the fourth coming mass enrollment and renewal exercise of National IDs.

It was confirmed that the mass enrollment and renewal exercise of National IDs will be conducted in June this year and it will be conducted at 10717 parishes across the country

Currently NIRA  status   27 million People who were registered and given with National Identification Numbers.

Rose Kisembo the Executive Director of NIRA noted that the exercise will be conducted for a period of ten months and they will first track all Ugandans about 16 years as a move to easier the processing of the Voters Register.

She further noted that they will also add an Iris on the bio metric data they will be collecting from the people during the registration exercise after realizing that the finger print and the facial requirements are not enough after people get involved in physical body destruction.

The recruitment of people who are going to carry out the registration who include, Registration assistants and Data processors is starting this week in all parishes of the country.

She emphasize those to be recruited must be residents of the area where they will be working.

"Those people will be conversant with information and the people who are within the areas,  the information that were providing the officers who are working on the exercise" says Kisembo
