Bugiri Government Officials Remanded for Embezzlement

10 Bugiri district local government officials have been arraigned before the Anti Corruption Court and charged with causing the government a financial loss of over 1.2bn shillings.

The seven include; 59 year old Ezaruku Kazimiro, the Chief Administration officer, Madi okollo district local government,59 year old Mustapher Nyende, the Chief financial officer,   52 year old Abdullah Waiswa, senior accountant,.51 year old Minsa Atoire,Assistant Accountant,31 year old Bazibu Fred also assistant accountant,58 year old Kabulo Henry, District Education Officer .

Others are Haruna Kamba Deputy Chief Administration Officer,56 year old Paul Moses  Isiko, district production officer,54 year old Ikaaba Fred,district Engineer and 49 year old Muhamed Kyondha, the district planner.

The suspects are charged with three counts of causing the government the said financial loss.

Prosecution states that Kazimiro,Nyende and Waiswa are said between March 2019 and December 2022 initiated and paid fictitious  salary arias amounting to 552,174,163 million shillings to various employees of Bugiri district local government well knowing that their actions will cause government the said financial loss and indeed caused it.

They are also said to have initiated and approved payment of  524,651,297  and 185,887,962 Uganda million shillings in other fictitious salary payments.

They appeared before grade one Magistrate Joan Aciro and denied the said charges.

Their lawyers led by Evans Ochiengo are applying for bail.Court has also learnt that A2 is suffering from advanced cancer.
