A suspected conman has been apprehended for defrauding teachers of Logiri Girls Secondary School money amounting to 35 million shillings after promising to get  them permanent placement jobs in the Ministry of Education and Sports.

The incident unfolded in Logor Sub-County in Arua Vura district and dates back to September 2023 but it was officially reported to Police in January 2024 by the school head teacher Lilian Apio Tako.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the suspect identified as Victor Aja Adame, a resident of Garuga, Bukaya village in Katabi Town Council Wakiso district presented to the victims as a staff from the office of the Minister for Higher Education Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo.

He  defrauded One million shillings from each of the 35 victims including 31 teacher, three nurses and one Lab technician of Logir Girls SS under the pretext of registering them as government workers.

After collecting the money, the suspect’s phone went off which prompted the victims through their head Teacher to report the case and the police swiftly started a manhunt of Adame until they arrested him.

" We continuously get complaints where teachers are bribing their way for promotions to the level of head teachers, deputy head teachers, getting appointment letters and so on" says Enanga.
