The Iranian Ambassador to Uganda H.E. Majid Saffara says Uganda’s bi-lateral relations with Uganda will not be affected by the death of the President Ebrahim Raisi alongside the foreign minister and others in a helicopter crash.

This while speaking to journalists at the cultural consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Because of the climate situation in the region, it was raining very hard, very foggy, very cloudy in the mountainous area, the president was insisting to officiate at other programs.”

“Therefore, he made a decision to at least travel by helicopter, even under conditions that were not so good. Unfortunately, when confronted by the weather, they had an accident,” says HE.Saffara.

“It was obviously as we know a natural thing, we are not accusing anybody. It was the willing of the almighty God,” he adds.

Funeral programs are ongoing in the Capital Tehran and other major cities spear headed by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with caskets carrying the dead draped in Iranian flags.

President Ebrahim Raisi died alongside Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six others near the border with Azerbaijan.

Iran’s theocracy has declared five days of mourning over Sunday’s crash, encouraging people to attend the public mourning sessions.
