- Kumi district has received a newly constricted facility,a forest cover and equipment to detect diabetics in pregnant mothers in KUMI health center 4.
- This was a donation from the lions club of KUMI central.
- Associations of Lions clubs are Humanitarian groupings made up of 1.4 million members in 49,000 clubs.
- They bring hands and hearts to the communities across the world.
The Deputy Inspector General of Government Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria has commended corporate social groupings for contributing towards humanity and the benefit of the less privileged people in society.
“It is truly an inspiration to see great acts of love and service to the communities, I have seen the renovations and the equipment you have sponsored at the health centers, the work at the police station, and the environmental projects and this is truly amazing because you are doing a service beyond self” said deputy IGG.
She says there is a need to strengthen community service, volunteerism give support to the poor and needy people, and involve the young people in positive community engagements.
She was speaking at Caros Haven-Kumi during the Installation of the President-Elect of the Lions Club of Kumi Central Susan Asio Ekure.
Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria Earlier inspected the accomplishments of the Lions Club of Kumi Central in the past year which included the donation of a newly built building to Kumi Central Police housing DPC offices and CID Planting of 3000 trees composing a forest along the Kumi Soroti highway
She also witnessed the Installation of the new board of the Lions Club of Kumi Central presided over by Willy Bisangwa Mugara.
Mrs. Susan Ekure takes over from Eng Olupot Simon Julius and has pledged to work towards achieving key milestones of the club.
This includes guiding and ensuring proper orientation of new members who join the Lions Club.
